Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi from the Geisi ruling house has been unveiled as the new Ooni of Ife. Moshood Adeoti, secretary to the Osun state government, confirmed this in an announcement.
“The governor of the state of Osun, Ogbeni Rauf Adesoji Aregbesola, has approved the appointment of a new Ooni of Ife,” the statement read. “He is Prince Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi of Geisi ruling house of Ile-Ife, state of Osun. This choice follows the completion of the due process by the kingmakers and the communication of their decision to government.”
The new monarch succeeds Okunade Sijuwade, who died in July after presiding over the kingdom for 35 years. Sijuwade hailed from the Ogoru ruling house and had a tremendous reign. A graduate of accountancy from The Polytechnic, Ibadan, Ogunwusi is the 51st monarch to sit on the prestigious throne.
The 40-year-old is into real estate and has several properties in Lagos. Ogunwusi is a director on the board of directors of Imperial Homes Mortgage Bank Limited, a leading mortgage bank and former subsidiary of GTBank Plc. He is the founder and managing director of Gran Imperio Group, the holding company of real estate and construction, manufacturing, facilities management, leisure and tourism companies in Nigeria.
